Jakarta Swing.

We had talked about doing a quick golfing trip to a nearby country and finally settled for Indonesia. KLM had great offers and Indonesia had great golf couses. Hence, the Jakarta Swing finally took place from 16.5.12 to 19.5.12. We had decided and reserved the 3 golf courses before arrival. KLM's flight land in Jakarta in the evening after a one and a half hour flight. But from the airport to Hotel Kristal at Pondok Indah took a good 2 hours ! Jakarta is notorious for it's massive traffic jam.
After dinner, we while away our time at Atferhour for some beers at the snooker parlour.
Liew is an old hand at snooker.
Above ; Luke having a go at it too.
Below; Richard is a regular at Afterhour.
The next morning, we gathered at Tony's residence for breakfast.
To all of us, we literally took to Tony's words when he says " make yourself at home".
Getting ready to move off on our very first day.
It's a holiday in Indonesia today. Our choice of golf course is away from the city.
Sentul Highland have improved a lot since we last played there a few years ago. We were told it is under a new management now.
Above; Renney teeing off.
Kevin showing us his stuff. We were not impressed as the ball did not travel far.
Daniel is impressed with this course. At this particular fairway, he says it sure looks like Swiss mountain scenery.
and he hit the ball far at this fairway.
Nice logo at the 18th Hole.
Happy with the first round today.
Day 2 ; It was full house at the Royal Jakarta Golf and Country Club.
The Indonesian Masters was played at this course a month earlier. The rough still had the same thickness and the greens are superfast. A lot of us struggled through the rough and the greens.
Luke had his first ever golf game here. Here you see his textbook swing, head still looking down after the shot.
Cannot resist taking a photo at the finishing 18th hole.

Yes Luke, one for the memory.
Fantastic vista at the18th hole green.
We know you played a Par, Mr. Toh !
After a long day, a chilled beer is a must.
Happy with the outing today.
Compatible couple.
Incompatible couple !
Below ; That's how his game is today.
Cheers to all !
Pondok Indah Mall, all modern and big.
 The shoppers.
 Dinner at Din Tai Fung.
A stisfactory day for all.
The ever gracious host, Tony and Lena.
Jagorawi Golf and Country Club.
This is our last game for this outing.
A group photograph for memory.
A look from the first tee, it's a tight course.
The usual warm up and body stretch before the game.

The day was full of ups and downs.
Despite the course difficulty,we agree that this is the course for all golfers.
The caddies are an integral part of Indonesian golf. Some of them are skilled at reading the lines, whilst others are good just for carrying your clubs and repairing the divots. But they are helpful and try their level best to make you have a good round of game. Most of them are a cheerful lot.
After the round at Jagorawi, we had enought time to have a good lunch at the golfers terrace before heading to Soekarno Hatta Airport for our flight back home. The 3 rounds of golf and our 4 days stay had given us a good break from our routine. It is always good to have such a getaway and pit our skills together ( or the lack of it ) all in the name of fun. We have to record our thanks to Tony Lau for booking the golf courses and hotel including having his residence for some of us to bunk in. And thanks to Richard Goh for coordinating the outing. We had enjoyed the JAKARTA SWING and is looking forward to more.

  1. Looks like you had a great time from all of the photos you posted, especially the golf pictures! I golf in Las Vegas with my friends every time I go down there. It's really one of my favorite sports to play with others.
