This is the chart of the Chen Ancestry of Feng Shan village, Yong Chun, Fujian Province, China. Feng Shan is is known in Hokkien as Hong Sua. The locals also called it Pang Sua Tao meaning 'broken hill'. The current generation do not refer to this name anymore.
This chart is deciphered from the clan's Zupu obtain from Feng Shan and it starts with Tan Tiong, the first Tan in that village who immigrated from Henan circa 1300. The first four ancestors in the chart were recorded from memory and actual recording of the Zupu started with Tan Kuan Seng, the 5th generation ancestor of Feng Shan.
The Zupu compiles all the siblings at every generation, and this chart connects only the direct lineage from Tan Tiong to my father Tan Boon Kwi who is the first generation born in Malaysia, The tracing of the lineage was done with the help of the Zupu keeper in Feng Shan where we obtain the Zupu from.
This chart was drawn up by Chinese Genealogist Philip Tan and his nephew Stephen Lim, both very ardent in Chinese ancestry. My brother KC Tan is also passionate in uncovering our ancestry and like me, we both do not read nor write Chinese. But our deep interest in genealogy had led us to uncover so much of our family history that even our elders were not aware of.
